I was recently reminded of this Documentary. The Lobotomist. It follows the work of Walter Freeman, the man who heralded the procedure that left many patients docile, childlike, and with little intellectual ability. In many cases he did more harm than good. "The lesson here is not how a man can go off the rails, but how science can go off the rails"
