Very interesting talk regarding the mathematics of war. Sean Gourley describes a project in which he and several other mathematicians looked for correlations in the violent events of Afghanistan, Iraq and other conflicts. Turns out they came up with a precise equation to describe the events in these countries, and possibly a way to predict future violence, or perhaps prevent it. Pretty interesting.
