So the field of Microfluidics is kind of amazing! Its basically a mash-up of engineering, physics, chemistry, microtechnology and biotechnology. Using tubes of specific liquids the breadth of a human hair, you can create what amounts to a bio-lab on a microchip. Its incredible stuff. In this TED video Frederick Balagadde describes how he uses this technology in his effort to combat the AIDS epidemic. And get this, with such advanced technology it winds up being half the cost! Get into it! This is what TED talks are all about!
