This conceptual prototype from Bonnier and BERG design features the possibilities of magazines read through hand-held digital devices. Unlike a Kindle for magazines, this product would have a level of interactivity that doesn't detract from the overall pleasure of reading a magazine. With features that mark your progress while reading, enable searching, bookmarking, and with a very well designed layout, this route for digitizing magazines is the best I've seen. I love this idea. Seems so amazing, yet at the same time I always want to have the option to have the tangible object. Only because my fear is that eventually everything in the world is going to turn digital. I like the idea of having the option to go digital or not. I'd do both. These things are exciting though, because its new and much like a grown up toy.
ReplyDeletei think a lot of people have that fear, becky. i think where we often misguide ourselves is that new devices or materials are not often as scary as we assume they are. did you know newspapers were once printed on a cloth like material...when we have the tools to do things differently we develop new associations, and our comforts naturally adjust. maybe one day the slide and pinch on your touch device will feel as warm as snuggling up with a good book?
